Causes Revealed in Two EVill Rooftop Fires
The FDNY has determined the causes of the two recent rooftop fires in the East Village and Noho. The massive fire on Houston and Avenue A last week was due to unapproved electrical wiring. Residents had extended cords to the roof and stretched wires beneath roofing materials. And the rooftop fire above Urban Outfitters on Broadway was caused by a smoker. Tsk tsk. [NY1]
